Clinical Diagnostics

Medical microbiology is responsible for the detection of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites in patient samples. No matter where the infection is located, patient samples extracted from a variety of sources are the starting point for diagnostics that can be carried out using microscopic, cultural, serological, and molecular methods. With the latest microbiological methods and the latest laboratory technology, we can detect a wide range of pathogens.

An essential part of our service consists of individual antibiotic and infectious disease advice considering possible antibiotic resistance developed by the patient. Due to the increasing incidence of multi-drug resistant pathogens in hospitals and medical practices, screening tests (e.g., MRSA, ESBL, VRE) are a major focus of our diagnostics. The initial screening is processed quickly and reliably in our laboratories, and initial evidence is communicated immediately.

On request, we can also carry out epidemiological investigations using molecular biological methods.

Cosmetics & Personal Care

Microbiological quality is critical to cosmetic product safety assessments. The European Cosmetic Regulation (EC 1223/2009) requires evidence of the microbiological quality of cosmetic formulas, raw materials, bulk, finished products and also mandates the need for a preservation challenge test.
